We live in a world made up of systems, processes and structures.

“a set of things working together”

“a set of principles/procedures according to which things are done”

Everything runs on a system. Use the right system and you can be very successful. Use the wrong system and you struggle.

Some systems that come to mind:

  1. Our body systems – for digestion, breathing and filtration.

2. Education - my background is in designing and developing adult education. When I am working on a project, I use a system. I start off by creating a rough sketch, move into crafting a draft and once all the details are ironed out I move into create mode. Of course there are many things that are the glue to my system, but you get the idea.

3. Mass production – my husband is a huge car enthusiast, and thinking back to when one of the first cars was mass produced, Henry Ford comes to mind. He implemented a system to produce cars for the “masses” and there were hundreds at that time. Those systems worked so well that they evolved into bigger systems to supply the demand of today’s market.

Take a moment and look around you. Everything has a system. Every successful profession has a system it runs on, including coaching.

The beauty of coaching, especially one-on-one coaching is that the system is tailored to you.

Let’s briefly explore our body example, specifically losing weight. In coaching sessions we would go even deeper and set specific goals, such as losing my belly to feel better about myself.

So the specific goal is to lose my belly and the result is to feel better.

Here’s what the structure of the system would look like:

1. Review how your belly crept up on you.

2. Set clear steps of what you have to do and what you are ready and willing to commit to.

3. Build a plan (meal, exercise etc.).

4. Set checkpoints to keep you honest and on track.

5. Etc.

Systems are put in place during our sessions to ensure you not only succeed but even exceed your own expectations. Are you ready to start?
